Independence Day 2020

Brothers and Sisters, Greetings of Peace and All Good!

The Franciscan Friars of the Third Order Regular, Province of the Immaculate Conception, have begun a campaign, “Pray for the USA.”

Each day, beginning 4 July 2020, the residents of each state will be remembered in prayer, asking the intercession of Our Blessed Mother, Patroness of our country, for her protection during these days of pandemic.

These special intercessory prayers will be offered twice each day in the Morning and Evening Prayer of the Liturgy of the Hours.  You are encouraged to pray for the residents of your state for Mary’s powerful intercession with one of her titles.  See attachment.

May the Virgin Mary, and her Holy Child, protect us!

Further Note:

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

It was brought to our attention that we skipped a date (8/7) in our State list.  All the states were there, but we went from 8/6 to 8/8.  We saw this as an opportunity to introduce the Territories of our country to our prayer list.

On 8/7, we ask you to pray for Guam and Puerto Rico.  Their patrons are Santa Marian Kamalen, and Nuestra Señora Madre de la Divina Providencia, respectively. And on 8/13, we ask you to add the other three territories, along with the state of Rhode Island.  They all share a common patroness - Our Lady of Mount Carmel.  Those territories are:  the US Virgin Islands, American Samoa and the Northern Mariana Islands.

Many thanks and blessings as we begin our intercessions today for our Country to the Immaculate Conception.
